If you want a good gravel, you should probably go for a so called Hybrid, like the trek 700 series, they are made for 700c wheels, but built as mtb.
Also you need brakes with clearance from mud, so, something with canty or vbrakes mounting points. Clamp style brakes gets filled with all sort of dirt.
Thia winter I've redone all my bikes, and I'm totally satisfied with what i have.
Probably my next project will be a 500watt ebike.
