You can grow and live on potatoes easily (though it would be rather difficult forcing yourself to eat it every day) and depending on specifics of your location/climate it might be slightly easier or harder than my area which is hot and dry in the summers meaning a lot of watering so a river needs to be close by. Potatoes can store well for almost an entire year in a cold dark cellar like we had.
