>>1291903>>1291777In the UK I've seen 5 needle pines in graveyards and arboretums, but you generally only get the main two needle pines (Corsican, Lodgepole, Scots) and even then lots of pines are banned for commercial planting because of dothistroma. Only Scots is native obviously. I imagine even if you lived in the middle of some old growth forest or a yuge commercial forest in the US there'd still be your bread and butter conifer species mix. But to most yanks "pine" is shorthand for "has needles".
