>>2377158>newbie friendlythats the hard part. if your main concern is hard to break, get an ugly stick 4 piece travel rod and a decent spinning reel from diawa or shimano. mono and braid both have their problems for newbies. start with 8lb mono and if at some point you want to get braidpilled upgrade to #20 powerpro. get a small plano box, some small bobbers, some small feather jigs, some small hooks, some medium hooks, and a couple moving baits like crankbaits, inline spinners, or basically anything else thats fished in a "cast out and reel in" fashion. with that you can either fish lures or you can turn over rocks, logs, or just about anything else looking for critters to use as bait.
