>>1447852I only did it once but I'm a cast iron noob. I think the cooking surface of my pan has some rust on it that comes up when I scrape gunk out of the pan but I just grease over the top of it and not think about it.
I ran my tin billycan through the dishwasher last night. I should have remembered to dry it off after. It's got a lot more rust spots now. Funnily enough the bottom of the can held a layer of water on it all through the night but barely any of the rust spots were there. There's a lot inside of the can and around the rim of the bottom, on the outside.
What do you guys do to prevent rust? I put cooking oil on it before but it took a lot of effort to get the rancid cooking oil gunk off to use it again.
