I am aware that nothing prevents from worst case scenario and I still can get sick.

I'd rather carry any water than take chances, but I am curious about what-if scenario.
So what would be proper "step-by-step"? (Pardon my ESL, Poland here)
1. Preferably find a water from a running stream, as it could simply have less shit.
2. Gather water into a bottle.
3. Use any cloth to just filter out bigger residue (leaves, sand) (obviously you would need more than one bottle)
4. Filter it through this sawyer(TM) filtration or any other stuff like that.
5. Use water purification tablets (the prescription tells how much tabs per liter, and how long to wait)
Questions:
- Is it allowed to carry a small gas applications like pic rel in parks in US?
- If I could boil the water, then can I skip the filtration? Or doesn't hurt doing both?
