If I'm really going /out/ then the only reason I'll bring food at all is because its hard to get good sleep on an empty stomach. Macadamia nuts are super calorie dense and are tasty af. They are mostly comprised of healthful oils, which is great because fat contains 9 calories per gram whereas protein and carbs are only 4. Sometimes I go backpacking with people who like to bring a jet boil and plates and cups and utensils and bulky packs of expensive shitty dried carb laden backpacking food which just baffles me because they lug around pounds and pounds of extra equipment just to make some really shitty food I wouldn't even want to eat. The weight of their food alone is over twice as much as mine, takes up 10 times more space, and then they need all the cooking equipment on top of it.
