If it's just me or a couple like-minded buddies, we'll wait until it's pitch dark and do slow recce-type patrols around our campsite in our kit from work. It's ultra autistic but it helps keep night skills sharp, esp. when we bring out night vision. Also you get to see a whole different side of the forest and mountains at night time.
