I've met 2 people through /out/ and they've become good friends of mine since our first meetup. I go on 2-3 hikes a month but my days are unpredictable. Normally go on sunday or mondays. Going to try and do some overnighters but my only days off are sunday/monday and it can be difficult to get people involved for those days. But for the sake of keeping things simple we should organize an event within the city limits that everyone, regardless of experience, could do. Lynn canyon, buntzen lake, belcarra(jug island or admiralty point), lighthouse park, capilano valley. No shortage of easy, short hikes in the area.
