Is there anything I can use as a replacement for a camp pad? All the stores I'd think to go to are closed. Could i use a small blanket, a tarp, some bows of evergreen under my tent? I'll get one eventually but I want to just camp in the near future.

Do you recommend using a tent or a tarp shelter. Bugs aren't awful here as of right now and I have a cheap 2 man tent but I'd much enjoy a bodybag type shelter too.

For cooking do you recommend a dakota firepit or a homemade rubbing alcohol stove? I'll be trying to cook a trout so I'd like something reliable to ensure I don't get a tapeworm.
I've camped a few times before but always in the summer so I never had to worry about staying warm. Temps are gonna be 40s, and my bag is rated to 27°f or maybe colder.
