One more thing before I run out of power. Potable water is a problem. Right now I cart it in, and a I tried to drive a well but it doesn't seem to suck much water. Part of the problem might be that I didn't expect bedrock to be as close to the surface as it is, so I dug deeper than I should have with a power auger I borrowed. Hopefully it's just that the sand is too disturbed so it's sucking air around the pipe. Otherwise I'll have to get more creative.

For washing and shower water there's the river and I have some simple rain catchment around back. It's basically two troughs I bought from Tractor Supply. The nice thing about them is they have pipe fittings. The goal is to make them water filters. I bought some pickle barrels from CL, and I plan to bury them. I'll pipe the sand filtered water from the troughs into the buried barrels.
