Signs of instability? Yeah, recent avalanches are a sure-fire indication that slope can slide. Vegetation, or lack of, is also a good sign of a slide path.
Convexities/concavities? Slope's got both.
Signs of wind loading and cross-loading on the slope too.
Trigger points? Rocks are irregularities in the snowpack that tend to absorb long-wave solar radiation and often serve as triggers for avalanches.
"Terrain Trap"? A little slab close to the ridgeline may carry you through those rocks, possibly steeping down into deeper layers and carrying you in a sizeable slide into the trees at the bottom.
