>>2096630My very favorite backpacking trip is Kearsarge. It's in Kings Canyon National Park, on the John Muir. You start around 7k and hike up to the pass around 12k, over about 5 miles. Maybe a mile or two of that is flat, and the rest is basically stairs. Once you get to the summit? The valley is just breath-taking. And camping down by the five, terraced lakes on the side of the mountains, cliff diving into the crystal clear water? It's magic. My favorite place on Earth.
