"Dual Sport" is such a broad term... covers everything from the little barely-street-legal 250cc dirt bikes, all the way up to the big liter+ v-twin adventure bikes.
My 525 eats up singletrack a LOT better than an adventure bike does.
Adventure bikes are a lot better suited for longer distances and multi-day outings than my 525.
That said, I've done 300+ mile days on my 525, and seen guys put big V-twin adventure bikes on a moto-x track.
