I know people who travel to NZ to hunt species that are native to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. NZ doesn't have any native land mammals, aside from a few bat species. That said, most of the species causing problems are livestock or rodents. Those mountain ungulates that everyone likes to hunt aren't huge perpetrators of ecological damage. I just don't like them since they're not supposed to be there and don't fulfill the role of any long-dead species either.
All that said, NZ does seem to have a much better ecological culture, though, which is always good. Did you see one of the bats just won some national prize for best bird?
