>>1928024>What are your most memorable experiences of being innawoods with your parents? Any special moments that inspired you to love nature?Don't know, no specific *magic* thing that happened or something. It just was normal for me for as long as I can remember to go out (though, by /out/'s larping standards, we've probably been doing filthy casual shit… but who cares) with my parents on the weekend. Working in our garden or orchards on Saturday (or doing the firewood chores about every second winter when I was old enough for it) and going on hikes on Sunday and when I got old enough, we went for multiday trips in the alps (We never ever went to a beach resort for summer holidays. Either alps or the North Sea, which while beach and sea a plenty, is about as far from a beach resort you can get).
And yeah, my dad was a bit of the driving force behind those activities, but my mom just played as big of a role. Was the same for my wife, though with foraging instead of orchards and less multiday stuff, because she was raised in the middle of the mountains.
>obviously going to need to tone it down a bit with a little one in tow. Been mostly doing easy day-hikes for now, getting into mushroom foraging as this is slow going and fun to do with kids.Same here. Haven't done anything more than ~4 hours since over a year, but I can't wait for my little guy to finally learn how to sit, so that he can get on my back and we finally can head out some more again.
How do you deal with a baby in the cold?
It's starting to get cold now, and he's 9 months old. No need to lock him inside, but obviously he can't just man up and deal with the cold by himself. I guess we can easily dress him warm enough (the Autist in me wants to borrow some ibuttons from university to log his temps during the day), but changing diapers and letting him crawl around in subzero conditions seems stressfull.
(pic semi related. Last /out/ before pregnancy put that on hiatus)
