>>1129334>I always hear that determinates produce all in one batch--how accurate is that?It is pretty accurate. I don't use them because I can extend the season beyond what most people do in my area. I also like the cultivars I use now. I just harvested some green volunteer tomatoes off my compost pile today. They are in the dehydrator and outside it was spitting snow. I however, find that due to adverse humidity, rain, and freak cold in my area, that making new plants 1-2 times later into the season is better than trying to keep really old plants from getting disease.
A friend of mine is into patio-type determinate tomatoes and keeps them on a sunny porch.
>>1129401Probably an expensive name brand. Look through some forums about how to fix them. That will give you some idea of what goes wrong with various models and what to steer clear from.
>>1129417I have several chickens and a few turkeys. Foxes killed more than half so I'm down to around 12-15 birds, I don't recall at the moment. I'm still repairing fence line, to prevent that in the future, and they are currently in a smaller enclosure instead of out to pasture in the orchard. All are various random breeds.
>>1129429lol Yeah, they tend to leave. I used to raise quail and bobwhite to replenish local populations. However, they never last very long due to all the stray and feral cats in the area. Which is one reason I'm up to about two dozen feral cats taken to the local animal shelter.
>>1129442I have 6 different hawk hides for mine, consisting of metal-roofed pallets up on cinder blocks.
>>1129462They only eat each other when one is injured and bleeding. That behavior is normally only reinforced when they are chicks. Which is one reason why heater lamps are red. It helps wash out and hide the color of blood.
>>1129548Bees are great! I recommend everyone get a hive or 5.
>>1129549Uh... feed them compost tea or something.
