I've moved into a new rented house in London, UK (Zone 9b) which has a small gravel garden in the back. I've taken a picture, to the left is south, which has unfortunately got some high-ish trees so even the south facing fence of the garden doesn't get that much light. The picture was taking at 1pm in early July, so that's as good as it'll get really.
I want to grow some things that I can use in the kitchen out there - maybe things like basil, parsley, coriander, mint and the like, all in pots. Is this feasible given the relatively poor light? What other plants should I look at growing given I'm only here for 2-3 years and the relatively poor light?
