If you had around $100 US to spend on a good 3 season tent (or 2 tents) for both backpacking and car camping for either solo or with a friend or two, what would you buy?
I was looking at this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07YKVR8KL/It's 6.5 lbs including the rainfly and stakes, would comfortably fit 2 people + gear and up to 3 if you didn't mind being close, it's a little heavy for backpacking, but it's perfect for car camping. A 2 person tent only saves 1 pound, but if I want to bring more than one person with me then they need to bring their own.
Can I do better by getting a cheaper 1.5/2 person backpacking tent and a 3/4 person car camping tent? I don't have a lot of money to spend, but I want something good for both uses.
