OP, I've been where you are more than a few times and have always come back with a vengeance. The first time I decided I wanted to go /out/ was when I took a walk in a rinky dink little neighborhood park, with my pancreas inflamed. I've pulled my hip out of it's socket and spent 6 months trying to get back out there ; I ran a 22k that summer. About a year or so ago I developed some kind of pain so bad I was sure I would have to kill myself (Ameri-lard with healthcare only good enough to shield myself from the Obummer-tax, not good enough to actually get help.) I was planning on mixing pain killers and vodka, going out to my favorite forest and shooting myself. I recovered, though, and have taken up rock climbing. Your body WILL fix itself. It may sound like hippie bullshit, but multiple studies have been done that suggest that STAYING POSITIVE will help with the healing process. I know... I was a massive cynical asshole... the /out/doors have really helped me see the world differently.
Sorry for the big gay post, I've just been there before is all. Pic related: the music video for RENEGADES features handicapped people still trying to engage in their passions, including a gang of blind hikers that navigate some PRETTY rugged terrain with trek poles and fucking ECO-LOCATION!
