Even with the campfire you posted, I bet it takes 40min to bring to a boil because every time you fill the pot up with snow it melts down to increase the water level only a half inch.are you using the right fuel and proper stove? If you're using butane in 12" range stove it will obviously take forever
It takes me ~10 minutes to get 700mL of snow to boil in my pot, which is only double the amount of time to boil straight water. An aluminum foil wind screen makes a big difference too
The one time I had problem with melting snow was with a shitty jetboil fuel canister, apparently they have some supid valve system to regulate the pressure for their overpriced water kettles, and it fucks up the performance with a proper inverted canister stove. Only use MSR canisters now
