>>1908172Ehhh, I disagree. Staging salmon are a blast and have perplexed me with dozens of hookups and not one landed last year. Aggressive fish. In the creek, they'll bite skein for sure, but not consistently. They'll also hit lures. 97% of the fish hooked in the mouth? Flossed for sure. Especially by fly fishermen. You really want me to believe that a salmon bit your size 8 streamer swinging rapidly at mouth level in 2 feet of water in complete darkness? Yeah right. But I've seen enough skein in the throat to know they have some instinct. And I've pissed one off with a jig enough to get a reaction bite. Overall, steelhead make me much more entertained. Especially on a centerpin. I've seen those fish leap 4 feet in the air on my hook, and have had numerous fish make me sprint downstream 100 yards on some of the big water. 20 minute battles where I'm positive that I'm snagged until they make another downstream run. Salmon are strong but they don't have the explosive runs of a fresh fall chromer.
