I like catching sunfish on my #2 fly rod. They are easy as fuck to catch with a honey power worm and they put up a good fight for being so tiny with the tiny rod. it feels like i have godzilla on the hook. Also fun to catch them with poppers because you can sometimes see them come up and strike the popper and BAM you hook into them.
Good fish to catch with the old lady because even she can catch them and at a decent enough rate that the bitching is at an accerptable level for me to tolerate.
Sometimes you get lucky and instead of a bluegill you hook into a redear or a rock bass or my favorite, the pumpkinseed. Pretty cool looking fish, pic related
