You know, I grew up saturated in technology and suburbia in CA in the late 90s and early 2000s, but moved to rural Idaho in my late teens and stayed here. Got a job on a brush/logging crew for 2 years before starting my actual career.
Just had a discussion with my wife (who ran chains and split wood for her dad getting firewood every year and would ride with him in his logging truck) about how weird it is to think of a life where we would be completely unfamiliar with things like cutting a tree down, having to spend two days making our driveway passable in winter, or planting something to harvest and eat.
Not being judgemental, just saying it's weird even though I lived that way for years.
Anyway, a chainsaw isn't magic. Cutting a wedge and then felling it is not rocket science but introducing buildings gets dicey. I don't touch a damn thing if it's leaning funny towards a building or I'm not certain where it's going to fall. That said, 25 ft Is a baby tree.
Be careful and don't try to impress anyone.
