>>1798124Here's one I remember both personally and mixed with what I heard through the rumor mill:
>be me>be scout>on a week long camping trip at campsite>be second to last day at campsite>record breaking heat wave earlier that day where we were forced into pool/air-conditioning during heat of day (100F with heat index at 110's)>storms projected for later that night>has all of the camp counselors nervous>start night in tents anyways>goes well until around 4am>wake up due to loudest thunder crack I have ever heard in my relatively short life>flash is immediate and lights up inside of tent>water seeping in due to torrents of rain currently pounding the outside of the tent>found out later one of the tent poles had broken which was why we were also fighting against the tent as the wind tried to blow us away inside it>frantically try to escape the flattening fabric>finally pull ourselves out and run to the storm shelter along with the other scoutsFind out later:
>be not me>be in tent next to tree>tent is about 50ft away from (me)>have lightning hit the tree next to me>ohfuck.gif>nothing comes of it beyond a slightly singed tree thoughAlso found out that storm spawned a tornado about a mile out from the campsite. Once the storm had passed and the sun was up, I got to spend the day drying out clothes, trying to identify which flipped tent was mine, and packing up because we had to leave early due to more storms that night when we normally would have had our goodbye ceremony.
