People who are into "adventure stuff" don't really use radically different watches. Being tough and waterproof are the only prerequisites. Pic related does a great job, and so do plenty other affordable watches.
The large Gshocks are in fact poorly designed, have plenty redundant features and useless plastic for no reason, and are in fact quite expensive for what they are.
