No, that was a bit off trail I just went for the photo. I did cross water elsewhere multiple times. It was only a foot deep at most but it was quite refreshing on a hot humid day.

I have crossed a stream on a tree before on a different trail but I was younger then. One time I did a trail with multiple creek crossings and someone had strung up a variety of different styles of bridges at the multiple crossings on the trail like one was a high and low rope, one was a net I think. Could have been a military training exercise. I came back to the trail, thinking those bridges would still be there and they were gone. That trail used to have log bridges across until they were destroyed by the big flood.

They used to have log bridges across Seneca Creek before the 1985 flood apparently.

When I went in 2007 there were rope bridges at all the crossings of various sorts. I was told that might have been a temporary military installation, they were very cool.

I think EVERY creek crossing of EVERY trail should have a bridge, where possible. They don't need to be fancy, just sturdy and built to survive a flood.

The idea of wilderness areas not having bridges keeps people from enjoying them, especially families.

aspen is inferior. The benefits of a lush deciduous forest is that you get a variety of hardwood trees with different appearances in both spring and fall that offer a denser canopy with more shade than conifers do.

Also, in the fall aspen is just yellow whereas a proper deciduous forest can have some bright red coloration which is absent in a coniferous forest in the fall.

tho the mountainous parts of pa/tn/nc/ga are nice too!

wv is super underrated because people think of only the west coast states as out and its not quite as high up/popular as the smoky mountains so its pretty uncrowded except for local/regional visitors
