>>850214My girlfriend and I just walked about 450km of the Scottish National Trail this summer. That was of course hiking, but still I'd say get up north, north of The Great Gap. A lot of people we met who where driving in Scotland recommended driving along the west coast, visiting isles and villages - particulary one named "Applecross". They also talked about Sandwood Bay, close to Cape Wrath (the most north-western tip of mainland Scotland.
My own best experience was walking a specific part of the route, I think it might have been on some trail named "the Affric Kintail Way". It was absolutely stunning and it eventually led us to the "Falls of Glomach" which I would also recommend visiting - following the quite dangerous path, leading down from the fall into the valley was quite an experience as well
