I believe sometimes stiffer plastics get hit and bounce off the side of a fish's mouth, certainly with smaller fish. I've been using bass assasin sea shad in various colors for years in saltwater. Used a lot of diff jig heads too. Red jig heads and chaetruese sea shad 4in seem to work best inshore saltwater on trout and redfish.
