In many places there are no roads, not even logging roads, no railrods. Just taiga, rivers, bogs and rock. It's amazing and I hope we manage to keep such large tracts of land where you can fuck off for two months and be attacked by bears if you so choose.
It's a shame the man lost his dog. Poor guy. It'd be hard to keep a dog alive out there... I suspect the bear ate his dog's food too.
