>>1887581>>1881013broke mine out early for the thread. i love the look, but some drawbacks to the taller version is that the tongue isn't sewn in all the way up, but only at the very base, so if you step in a river or something and the water goes past the rubber part its gonna get in. also, the tongue sometime slides to the side so there is nothing behind the laces which is annoying as fuck and looks like shit. another thing is that they don't have much insulation at all, so even thought they're comfy as fuck and offer high mobility, you still have to wear very thick socks to stay warm. i have the version with shear wool lining, which only goes down to the rubber part, then its just a very small layer of thinsulate. i think they make a full thinsulate version and also a non insulated version.

for me, these boots are more casual and duckboots should be more for rainy days and not winter. if you're going out in the woods and aren't going to be totally active the whole time so the blood is flowing constantly, i would say get something else, especially if you don't even like the aesthetic that much. if i were to do it all over, i would get the 16 inch ones (which are waterproof all the way up) and get a dedicated, thick insulated boot insert, which was kind of my plan when i bought these, but i was never able to find any of the 16 inch ones. the ones i ended up getting are basically super comfy but casual.
