Congratulations OP you are in Cascadia, one of the best /out/ related places in the world.
I suggest checking out Mt. Si, and the Snoqualamie gateway located off of the I90, Mt si and little si it are a well used trail with lots of traffic so you wont get lost. Pick up the Green Trails map of the area at the local REI.

You can also consider joining the Mountaineers they have been doing classes and outings in the area for around 100 years
Also you should learn to ski, Summit at Snoqualamie has a learn to ski package for around $100
