>>354149Truck + tent camper here (so weight/bulk isn't an issue) and I've got three sleeping bags;
Old late-1970s nylon outer/flannel liner medium weight bag from my days as a Boy Scout (with a busted zipper)
Fairly heavy weight canvas outer/flanner liner bag that's probably 20+ years old
Light weight cotton outer/flanner liner Coleman bag I got on sale for $25 several years back for hot weather camping.
For deer hunting (in Michigan) I safety pin the old Boy Scout bag inside the heavy bag, running large safety pins down the
"spine" and around the edges, then flipping it shut and zipping it up and I've toasty warm even when it's been cold as fuck
outside.
Use to use a ThermaRest pad, on top of an aluminized blanket, on top of carpeting and found this more then comfortable
but lately, (46 years old here) my knees tend to hurt when getting down/getting back up again so I picked up a Cabelas cot,
which is pretty damm big, heavy and expensive and I probably should have just bought a cheeper model but it works well.
