I don't know what homeland you will be comparing Greece to, but I found it to be a pretty lawless place (which has its advantages and disadvantages). Pretty sure most if not all tent camping is illegal, but cops were extremely rare. I was there mostly in autumn, and while the days are very warm, the nights can get pretty cold, especially (obviously) in the mountains. Touristy areas along the coast speak decent English, but as soon as you leave those areas, you're gonna get a lot less of that. Illegal immigrants arriving on boats were an issue where I was, since they could get pretty rowdy and the locals had understandably grown extremely xenophobic as a result. Lots of trash as a result too. I'd be very careful about being spotted by groups of bored young foreign men if they are present there. You're a walking lootcrate to them.
