>>2370658>We grow salads from seeds on an inner-city balcony in one of those balcony flower boxes that you hang over the guard rail. 5th floor facing south. We lost a bunch of seedlings to a squirrel and some city pigeons (apparently they snack those, we didn't know that until we caught them red.. winged) and had to put a metal mesh from the art store over it, once they grew large enough, they were fine without it. We water once a day in the afternoon when most of the sun has passed.Nice, the bacony flower boxes are occupied with herbs that survived from last year through the winter for me. Picrel, it's not much, but the mint has sown itself a lot and basically taken over one of the pots.
> but I don't think waiting a couple days will put you behind more than is worth risking them running dry, so I probably would just swallow my FOMO and look forward to getting them into the soil when you come back. You know what anon? You are probably right, I just wanted to hear another opinion I guess. Those 5 days won't make a real difference in when I have my final harvest but the 3 dry days might make a difference in IF I have a harvest at all.
I will just prep the pots with soil and then then plant the seeds when I come back, it's the more intelligent choice. Thanks again for the help and I hope you get some great salads this year too.
