Diver brushed it off as everyone having to agree on someone coming into the house, so he came to me and dropped subtle hints about being homeless again and needing to find a place to kick it. I avoided the issue mostly and the few times we hung out he attempted to walk me back to the house, I assume to invite himself in or see how exactly we get into the house since I'd boarded it up. His choice of language when he's trying to get information is hilariously obvious.
While running the shop, a man came up and talked to me for a moment. Like most people, he thought all the stuff was mine and that I was a seasoned super hobo despite looking so young. I explained that I'd originally stopped by for socks and wound up staying to watch the shop. I pointed out my soaked shoes drying on the fence and explained my situation as a squatter and our situation of our shit being stolen.
The guy turns out to live a few blocks down in a converted motel. I also explained my policies for the house and my overall objective. He supported my idea and liked that I wanted to keep it for kids only and to keep hard drugs and hard drug users out. Before he left he asked my shoe size and told me he'd see what he could do, no promises. I told him not to worry about it and that my shoes were fine but less than fifteen minutes later he pulled up with brand new pair of hightop black converse in my size. I told him that was far too generous and he said that he'd had them already. I'm not sure which is more likely, him having my exact size of a like-new pair or that he went out and bought them, considering the closest place to get converse like that would have been a 30 minute trip. I don't know.
The shoes fit perfectly.
