Top to bottom
Batch 1: This is their netting run. The hoops hold up cheap "deer netting". After having tested it out, I don't like it and will use that for something else instead. I'll make a corral for them instead since they are so large. The original goal for the netting was to make an quick setup-break down run that can store away in a small space. The problem is that the netting is the wrong type for this and wants to go all wasp-waisted between the hoops plus nothing can see it and other poultry walks right over top of it (like that turkey). Batch 1 ducklings are doing very well.
Batch 2: This tractor is performing very well, but with this many birds in one small footprint of grass needs to be moved multiple times a day. It is really only for 2-3 rabbits though. The Batch 2 ducklings are also doing well, even the gimped one with the birth defect of the foot.
Batch 3: All the eggs that are going to hatch have now hatched. The process took until the 5th day, but I didn't lose a single duckling that pipped. There's 16 ducklings in this pile. 50% hatch success rate. The remaining 9 eggs were rotten or yolkers.
There's now a total of 38 ducklings! There's still Batch 4 with 37 eggs. It should start hatching 1 week from today. Maybe, I'll be able to get more sleep until then...
>>1550097Start watering them on the 2nd or 3rd day. Just keep the soil moist enough that it isn't dried out a few inches down into the ground. Thus, the top of the soil will look dry until you dig down with your finger a bit. Potatoes rot easily in wet soils.
>>1550098200% jelly at that growth. Mine are like half that size, but I've been harvesting peppers for over a month.
