My dad has smoked a pipe since he was about 15 or so. Originally started smoking when he was wandering through Canada as a teenager because the smoked helped with the bugs a bit. He now has set up a pretty legit workshop in our basement (moved back in with parents, I'm 23), and has made some stunningly pretty pipes. He's made about 80 so far and is about to start up a little carving business. He's already sold 3 or 4 for $100 a piece so far, but he believes once word of mouth gets around about the quality of his pipes, they'll go for $250+. Had to brag a bit. I picked up smoking a pipe when I'm outdoors as well. There is something great about the lingering smell of pipe smoke in the air as you watch the sunset with a flask of Jim Beam.
Here is one of my fav pics I've taken, not overly impressive but it always brings back good feels. Not a pipe he carved, this was before he started carving. Was a great day of hiking and wandering.
