>>1308382I rode trails from Seattle to the Iron Horse and rode that to the Columbia. Then I took the Vantage highway(brutal headwind) back to Kittitas where I got back on the trail. Didn't see another person on the trail east of Kittitas. The Yakima training center section had a lot of loose sand patches that were tough with my tires, but it wasn't as bad as some people online made it sound. The Boylston tunnel is officially closed, but it's totally passable and I think it's worth checking out.
There's a phone number you can call for local people that shuttle riders over the I90 bridge in Vantage. I didn't know about it when I rode the trail otherwise I would have used it. I can post it if you want. I know the trestle that goes over I90 east of Kittitas has been funded and should be re-decked in the next few years. There's a footpath you can take to detour and pass under the freeway back to the trail(pic related). I recommend riding east of Kittitas. Next time I ride the trail, I plan on crossing the Columbia and riding the eastern section. I want to keep riding on the abandoned rail grade in Idaho too.
