https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVhymbOZ-41kaf4eM09WmK9D6Hp1jBPICthat will get you casting. you can start on the side of a lake, in the back yard, or just about anywhere really. i would reccomend using unsinkable foam flies for bluegill to have fun learning, and then "graduate" to trout once you are confident. like i said, a lot of people reccomend a 5 weight as a first rod, but i prefer to offer a 6 weight as a general purpose rod, it makes casting streamers and heavy nymphs a little easier, and a 6 inch bluegill or 10 inch trout will still give it plenty of bend.
and lastly, don't worry about your dominant eye, just go out, cast, try the rod in either hand, and go with what feels right
