This is the most recent time I went camping, with a friend who had never camped before.
>Park car and start to unload
>Realize I forgot our tent, but no biggie because I live like 10 mins away
>Pick up tent and come back
Now the area we were going to camp in was part of a state park, although it was not an official campground and the area we were going to had no trails. However the deer trails were usually decent enough to follow.
>Get off the main trail and start following deer trails
>After half a mile, deer trails are all underwater
>Need to walk through the brush, but again, no biggie. The area is a floodplain with mostly stiltgrass (some areas were full of thorny brambles tho)
>After 10 mins or so of bushwalking, deer trail comes back above water so we go back on
>Suddenly my friend starts complaining about painful itchy bumps on her legs. (We were both wearing shorts)
>She has the worse reaction to stinging nettle I've ever seen, I'm basically immune to poison ivy/ stinging nettle so I didn't notice
>Tell her to scrub the hurt areas with river water while I go to look for some jewelweed
>I saw some by the entrance but that was a while away, and at that point it was starting to get dark so I gave up my search and went back
>Give her some random leaf and tell her to rub it on her legs, hoping it may give some placebo effect relief
>It's only gotten worse after I left, she is considered wanting to hike out in the dark because it hurts too bad
>She calls her parents freaking out, worrying she is having an allergic reaction and may go into shock
>Her father googles it, says it's no biggie and if she came home there wasn't much they could do, and it would probably by done with by then anyways.
>She calms down and we set up the tent in dark
>Her rash gets better over time and we have a good time chilling in the tent, although she stays worried most of the night about the risk of a bear attack
