When I first started fishing and had no guidance I made a lot of dumb mistakes that I didn't even realize, mostly involving using lures and tackle completely incorrectly. I'm still fairly new to it all but I've gotten a lot better. A lot of that is from watching people on youtube who know what they're doing and just from going out and fishing of course and picking things up as I go.
I also picked this book up and while it's really eclectic I feel like it helped.
