Yeah yeah, it only makes around 35 BHP, and it's heavier than newer bikes, but people have been running these since the 1950's more or less unchanged.
I'm not suggesting OP go out and buy an Enfield-- definitely not for his first bike (I made that mistake), but I can understand how people have managed to take these over the Himalayas and beyond. For a backroad touring machine, not a bad choice. And it'll make a mechanic out of ya.
Oh, and they're drop-dead gorgeous. Pic related, she's mine (yes I'd swap out the chrome and add knobbies if I were going /out/ with her, I'm not daft).
