as a person who would be presumed to be the one who would "handle" the situation - do you know how fucking tired i am of picking up trash that has been mowed over? or shredded through barbed wired? ran over in the street? that shit is breaking down more and more, which could've all been prevented by taking only a second out of the day to collect it and dump it in the trash while it's still whole. i can't help but think about this everytime i'm on the road and i see the state of things as they are. why is it only designated as work to be done by volunteering or by prisoners?? i've been trying for around a year now to get a job simply picking up trash and cleaning the enviornment with my city, but all the jobs offered require qualifications for and mainly focus on matinence or working with heavy equipment. then, my city primarily hires via contract for things that would cover trash pick up, but the reality is you'd spent a majority of the time playing crabs in a bucket with people who barely speak english trying to pick up trash before they mow it over.
unfortunately that doesn't stop me from going out and picking up trash for free, especially out of the water in a park where people fish. i see people working for the city in their vehicles doing fucking nothing, over the course of hours where i am fishing out as much as i can physically handle. i'm in a unique position where i don't have to work and i'm taken care of, but to make this sustainable where i could spend a majority of my day earning cash just to remove trash from the enviornment? that's beginning to sound like a dream job to me. how would i even begin to make it a reality?
