But that still won't make it easy to tell when you are getting bites right as it drops. I think easiest way to tell when that happens is just to watch your line. If it starts going under much faster than usual, something probably grabbed it so give it a little set.

So I thought the pressure was probably just the bait coming up the rocky dropoff and didn't want to try and set the hook and lodge it in the rocks. So I gave it a little jerk and it ended up being a half-assed hook set in a decent bass. Those fucking manmade lakes with clear water are so frustrating.
