I don’t have any issues with the holes. Aesthetically they have grown on me, but really I love them just out of how functional they are, supper easy to flick out with my middle finger, because I’m so used to the Spydiehole, I even instinctively open most thumb stud knives with a middle finger flick, I actually am not good at flicking knives with my thumb now because of it.
But also it’s the best opening method I’ve found that works with thick winter gloves. And the hole does not get in the way as much when sharpening or cutting, and is easier to clean around then most thumb studs. And unlike any other opening method is slightly lowers the weight instead of adding weight. Not that it’s enough to make any real difference.
Now I do like flippers too... but if I were to be so nerdy as to rate opening methods, via practicality, it would be; Spydiehole, flipper, alternative hole, thumb stud, auto, then thumb disk.
