Why keep more than some chickens and a milk cow when you can hunt deer and grouse for miles all round, and fish in the nearest river (my plot has the river Thurso running past). Why own 45 acres of forest when there’s forest all round anyway that nobody else is ever going to use.
I’m an English garden designer, we build houses on 0.1 acres or less, and still manage to keep nice gardens and grow some vegetables. 2.5 acres is massive to me. I also like the idea of keeping everything small, tight and efficient.
Have fun patrolling your 5 mile boundary.
