>>1845974A bit over a year ago I was a fatty when my brother challenged me to do a long strenuous thru hike with him. I was in terrible shape and drank too much beer. I started by going on short 1-2 mile walks with my wife every other night and only drinking on the weekends. I started adding a 10-15lb weighted pack while going on my walks. I increased the distance to 2-3 miles until that became easy. I then started loading my backpacking pack up to 20-25lbs and doing walks with that. I went from 240lbs to 210lbs in about 4 months of that. The 3 months before my trip I up the weight in my pack to 35lbs and started walking 5-6 miles per night. I started eating less and only drank every other weekend. I got down to 200lbs by the time I went on my trek. By the end of my trek I had lost another 10lbs. I’m a fairly slim and healthy 190lbs right now. Dedicate yourself to exercise and eating/drinking less and you can get into great /out/ shape.
