>>2295084Visiting all national parks (worth seeing) on Earth.
Having been to all parts/regions/valleys and most mountains of the European Alps. But these goals are rather secondary to me, raising good children, being a good father and living a good life is far more important to me than these goals.
The European Alps one can be completed in a year of not working, the other one takes years. even if money wasn't a concern.

It has taken me some time to enjoy mountaineering, I didn't like it as a kid, it too boring. Even today I'm not that passionate about it, but now I do enjoy it. It's pretty comfy in Europe, where are you from?
If you are staying below 3000 meters/10k feet altitude you don't need any special equipment in general. Above that you need a lot of equipment that amounts to 2000€/$ easily, courses will cost you 1-3k on top and it's often not that fun or great as depicted in the media (or more fun than the lower altitude trips). I treat it as a surrogate activity.
>but its all hopeless because the modern world is totally savaged and any of that stuff is clearly impossible if you werent already born into it.I get your sentiment, in my country there have been a lot of regulations by the older generations for the older generations to keep other people out of fishing and hunting. What you describing is not a new phenomenon, it has been the norm for most times.
A lot of sports are not that accessible or require dedication to try them out, some try them as an adult or never. I'm 1h of driving to the alps away and a lot of people, probably the majority never spend any time at the mountains and never will, maybe once a year with friends, but in any way not regularly.
Besides that people give a lot of information freely away on /out/ or on other forums. Far more than in real life, where people are often cliquey and protective. Nowadays I find almost everything online on forums and Youtube.
