>>1589925>Are those sport's hardware? The carabiners? They are some own brand ones sold by a major gear shop here in the UK. No we can use normal beaners while climbing. They only requirement is they have a 3 stage gate. We only use steel ones for rigging. I use all DMM ovals on my main climbing kit.
>>1589933>how long you been climbing?About 6 years now.
>What state do you work in?Working in the UK. I've also worked in France and the Channel Islands.
>Got any close call/ horror stories?None while climbing, apart from the usual bum clenchy stuff while working on dead trees and silky nicks. IMO most people have accidents while cutting corners or rushing. If someone demands I work faster than I can safely I tell them to shove it. But I have the joy of being a contract climber with a decent rep. I did chop the end of my thumb off with a PTO log splitter in June though. I've posted the pic here before but may as well get as much mileage out of it as possible, so here it is again!
>I've only been doing this a couple monthsNice. Be safe. Too many ways to fuck yourself up as a climber. And this might not be super good advice but it worked for me: During my first two years I moved company a lot, each time I lied about my experience and then hoped to God I could handle what they asked me to do. It meant that quicker then usual I was a main climber at a company. I might have got lucky, who's to say. But don't let a firm stick you on the ground too long. Fight for climbs and carefully push your comfort zone.
>>1589972I was working as a bike messenger in London and wanted a "real" job. Went to do some work experience with a friend of a friend and figured that tree work was for me. I attended a three month course that got me my basic tickets then started applying for jobs. I'm now looking to do a masters in Forestry so I can start to move away from climbing. It's awesome fun but not a job I want to get stuck doing for too much longer.
